What should you expect from your first massage session?
If this will be your first time getting a massage you can expect to be in control of your experience from start to finish. Our licensed massage therapists will greet you and show you around the facility and then take you to a treatment room where you will discuss what issues you want to try to alleviate during the session and how to best achieve that.
The therapist will leave the room and allow you to undress to your comfort level and get under the sheet and blanket on our heated treatment tables. The therapist will return after a few minutes and knock on the door to check that you are ready for them to enter. Once they are back in the room they will place bolsters under your legs or ankles to help you be more comfortable.
From there they will start the massage based on the discussion that you had before and focus on the area that was agreed upon or the whole body for general relaxation massages. The therapists will check in with you from time to time to ask how the pressure feels and if there are any issues with comfort such as the table being too hot or cold.
We want you to have the best experience and this is where you are in control and have to let the therapists know if you want more or less pressure or for them to spend more time on an area. Communication will be the key as you work through areas that may be more sensitive than others as well as consent to massage areas that some people may find embarrassing to talk about but may be essential to relieve your issues. Your gluteus or glutes (buttocks) and your low back tightness are often tied together.
Once you finish your 60 or 90-minute massage your therapists will leave the room again and allow you to get dressed and when you are ready they will meet you outside the room to discuss aftercare such as drinking plenty of water to help you flush out the lactic acid toxins released from your body and any stretching recommendations to help you stay more flexible between sessions.
They will walk you to the front desk for checkout and get you a complimentary bottle of water if you need it. The front desk associate will check you out and also make further appointments based on the therapist's recommendation. The front desk associate will ask if you would like to leave a gratuity (a tip) or the checkout terminal may have a spot for you to add a gratuity while checking out. We encourage you to give what you feel the therapists deserve for the services provided. All gratuity given passes directly to the therapists you saw for your appointment.
